Demo Reel - a quick compilation of some projects I've filmed
Highlights - a sample of some of my video projects/short films
Can I Start a YouTube Channel in 2017? - My University Capstone Project
This was a time-intensive, research based project I completed for my Capstone course at Boise State University. When I pitched this idea to the class, it originally was going to be based around Twitch streamers. The project eventually morphed into the YouTube side of things due to a couple of noteworthy events in YouTube history that happened during the semester - the PewDiePie "adpocalypse" controversy, and the Shay Carl Twitter controversy. While these weren't addressed in the video, I held a presentation and Q&A discussion with the class after screening to discuss the hot-button topics.
As we know today, a lot has changed since this video has come out. Media consumption has shifted more towards short-form videos on mobile apps, such as TikTok and Instagram.
Trunk Space - A short film for University Video Production
After hitting a woman with his car, William needs help from his friend Jake to bury the body. After they hit the road and break out the shovels, they now have another problem on their hands.
This is a short film I was involved in while attending Boise State University. I helped with script writing, played in an acting role, and was the editor of this project. The film was shot, edited, and presented to represent one continuous shot for the entire 7-minute duration. This was my first attempt at a continuous-shot film.
The World Tonight: A Look at Modern Struggles - A short film for University Video Production
The struggle is REAL. We interview several people to talk about their first world problems. They literally can't even.
This is a short film I was involved in while attending Boise State University - we were placed in groups and tasked with filming a documentary style film. I came up with the "mockumentary" idea involving first world problems, and the group loved it. The filming was a group effort with all four of us involved - we each filmed our "problems" segments independently by a given deadline, and shared the footage with each other to edit our own versions to present. Various lighting techniques during the confessionals helped mimic the true crime series seen on TV. All post-production graphics were created by me.
Gains - Behind the Scenes - A short film for University Video Production
Take a behind the scenes look at what went wrong at our recent filming of a workout video.
This is a short film I was involved in while attending Boise State University. We were tasked with creating an "action film". We decided to take a unique yet light-hearted approach involving a workout junkie, a cameraman (starring me), a silly friend with a nerf gun, and of course you can't forget the random doctor. We planned costumes in advance to help sell the roles. I used various filters, effects, and aspect ratios in post production to help tell the story and move the storyline forward.
